How It Works - This Tote Storage System is a storage rack system
that holds a variety of plastic storage totes of all sizes and shapes.

Tote Storage System mounts to the joists or rafters of your ceiling in your garage or any room in your home. Tote Storage System can also be mounted to walls for side storage. Tote Storage System holds the totes from the handle, rim or lip of the totes. Unlike other complex storage systems, Tote Storage System was designed with minimal parts for ease of installation. Each Tote Storage System pack comes with all the hardware you'll need to install. Each individual rail comes with 2 brackets and 2 bolts. That's all it takes! In addition, each package comes with a variety of hangers for bicycles, ladders or whatever you may need to hang

	How to Install:
Step 1: Using a stud finder locate ceiling joists where Tote Storage Systems are to be mounted. Once a joist has been located use a small nail or drill bit to poke through the drywall ceiling to find the edges of the joist. After the edges have been located mark on the ceiling where the centerline of the joist is. Find the next nearest joist (either 16" or 24" from the first) and mark the centerline of that joist. Now that the spacing and centerlines of two joists have been identified it should be easy to locate the centerlines of any other joists in the ceiling. See Fig. 1 Step 2: Place a tote bin on the floor. Carefully examine the bin and with the aid of a Tote Storage System determine where the bin will be resting on the Tote Storage System rails. This will probably be on or near the handles on the bin. Once you have determined where the rails of the Tote Storage Systems are going to be in contact with the bin, measure the distance between the two contact points on the bin. Add 4-3/4" to the measurment and that will be the distance between the bolt locations for mounting the Tote Storage Systems. See Fig. 2 Step 3: Determine the area where the tote bins are going to be placed on the ceiling. Be sure to leave room for bins to be inserted and removed from the Tote Storage Systems. Starting at one corner of the selected area place a Tote Storage System against the ceiling at 90 o the joists and mark along the centerlines of two adjacent joists where the Tote Storage System brackets will be mounted. Using the measurement determined in STEP 2 mark along the same two joist centerlines where the brackets will be mounted for the second Tote Storage System. See Fig. 3 Step 4: Drill a 5/32" hole about 2" deep at the (4) marks made in STEP 3. Slide a bracket over each of (4) lag bolts provided. Using a 3/8" socket drive the (4) bolts in until about 3/4" of the bolt is still protruding from the ceiling. Note the orientation of the bracket. See Fig. 4 Step 5: Pass the top wires of a Tote Storage System over the two brackets that will secure it and let the Tote Storage System rest on the brackets. Repeat the procedure for the second Tote Storage System. See Fig. 5 Step 6: Using the 3/8" socket finish driving the (4) bolts into the joists until the brackets and Tote Storage Systems are firmly pressed against the ceiling. See Fig. 6 Step 7: Place the tote bin onto the Tote Storage Systems. Slide the bin to each end of the Tote Storage Systems to make sure it slides easily, is secure and doesn?t teeter on the rails. The brackets have an oblong hole in them so that the Tote Storage System can be adjusted for optimum fit. If necessary you can slightly loosen the bolts to make any adjustments and then re-tighten them once adjustments have been completed. See Fig. 7 Step 8: Continue to attach Tote Storage Systems as described in steps 1-7. When locating Tote Storage Systems end to end be sure that they are aligned and the ends are securely butted against one another. Also be sure the bins can slide the complete length of the Tote Storage System row easily and that there is sufficient room at the end of each row to easily remove and insert bins. See Fig. 8

The simplicity of the Tote Storage System system is what makes it so unique. Each tote hangs from the Tote Storage System without the need of a shelf. Considering you may have many different style totes already, it is advised that you reorganize them based upon the style of tote. Each row of Tote Storage Systems will need to be set-up to the same width, allowing for easy access to individual totes. The first consideration for your tote compatibility is it's hanging area. This is the rim or lip of the the tote frame. Most Totes have the sufficient hanging area on their handle side.

Yet, some totes will have obstructions on their handle sides.

The second consideration for your tote compatibility is it's handle or rim height. If the handle or rim is more than 3-1/2" high, it will come into contact with the ceiling, thus not allowing sufficient clearance to slide. Most totes fit within this requirement, but there are exceptions.

Please remember: DO NOT EXCEED THE MAX WEIGHT requirements of your individual totes when using the Tote Storage System system. Overweight totes can prove to be a hazard to yourself and your property.
